First strike was announced officially in this last Wednesday by Riot Games. The League of Legends and Valorant developer will organize and manage the new-born First Strike. Riot Games first step is making this tournament worldwide, something innovating even for the developer itself. The main idea of the company is to organize a handful of several competitions around the world, with finals in each respective region, such as: Brazil, North America, Europe, CIS, Turkey, Asia, Oceania and Middle East.

What we know so far is that each region that will host the competitions will go through a series of qualifiers, as in the League of Legends, which will result in finals with only eight teams from the entire First Strike championship. The finals are planned for December 3-6, where the first winners will win the title of first official regional champions of the Valorant competition.

“Valorant is a deeply competitive title with global appeal and the necessary elements to become the next premier esport. First Strike will provide our thriving competitive ecosystem with the platform to showcase their greatness, build regional legacy, and a foundation that will support the esport for years to come.” – stated Whalen Rozelle, senior director of esports at Riot Games.

Regarding the news, Valorant executive producer, Anna Donlon, stated: “Esports remains one of the best investments we can make to support our community for the long term. As we’ve already seen from the Ignition Series, there’s a huge demand and hunger for VALORANT to be played at a professional level, and we’re so excited to be starting that journey with fans, players, and organizations. As a development team, supporting the competitive world of VALORANT is one of our top priorities, and we are committed to this journey.”

Besides that, Riot Games announced that they will close partnerships with 20 organizers that were part of the making of Valorant Ignition Series, producing several tournaments around the world with an award pool that goes beyond US$ 1 million. There are already several teams that have gained notoriety by participating in tournaments in the game that was officially launched in June this year.
